i know a few that keep up appearances so that they do not lose their loved family members.
I knew that you guys were put on a treadmill, but I didn't know about the "selling your house" thing. Wow. So you're actually encouraged to sell your home if you can? I would appreciate an answer even though I realize that's not the topic of this thread.
Sell your home. Quit your job. Don't have any children. Keep your life simple. Use any extra time you have in Kingdom pursuits, and so on. The more extreme you are the more commendation & recognition you get.

The guilt trip that what you do is not good enough and the burden of always being pushed to do more is a major flaw of this religion. It's hard to emotionally cope in that type of environment for a prolonged period of time.

so i'm playing the theocratic warfare card, rather than let them know i was once a witness and now disfellowshipped, i'll just pretend to be interested and maybe accept a bible study..lol.
TAI - Jw's do it all the time here on this very board. Pretend to be someone they are not. For that matter, people in general play games all the time. Just go into a bar some Friday night. It's not like he is seeking to harm anyone. I don't see a problem with it. I can't see myself doing that, but to each his own.
Let me see if I got this straight. Mature people come to this board who have seen the light because they got DF'd, DA'd themselves, or in general diagree with the WTS. You can read lot's of talk on this board about the lies & deception of the WTS. It is okay for a DF'd person to go to another KH and claim they are somebody who was never a JW, but now an interested person wanting a home BS? Very bizzare.

Good grief........either go or don't go, but grown people playing games with the JW's? If it was the other way around and JW's were being dishonest in representing themselves there would be outrage on this board.

That will be enough for the WTS to delude the JW's for another 14 yrs. Coming up on 2034 there will be a fall back plan developed. This crazy religion changes doctrine more than some people change underwear. You would think that somebody who had the absolute truth would have a track record of at least having absolute truth for some amount of time, before they had to change it. This organization has all the earmarks of just being run by men acting on their own decisions concerning doctrine & policy.

for the last 13 years, we haven't attended and didn't even care about it.
but since we became card carrying members of jwn in september, we have an interest in what are friends here on jwn are doing.. for us?
we will be watching 'dancing with the stars'.
But, why go through all of that? It's just an hour. And then the day after will be another 2 hours of being shunned, followed by a Sunday's shun sandwich with shun sauce, with an extra slice of shunions.

long time, "big shot" elder, ....taught at km school, conventions, etc.
yeah, i know it means nothing....but it gives you an idea of how deep i've been a jw.. i don't even really know what to write at this point.
Welcome DH13.......sounds very similar to my situation before I left 15 yrs ago. It's a shock at first, bit I don't regret it one bit. Only been on this board a couple of months, but found people who understand and have learned what had happened in the org. since I've been out.

i was chatting with a born-again friend of mine, who just moved to north carolina.
we worked in the post office together and he got transfered to nc.. we were talking about witnesses and he told me that at his office there is a jw.
this is what happened.. at the office they have a cd player and so they decided they would take turns playing a particular style of music each day.. my friend said, the jw had no problems with rap and its explicit lyrics, or the rock with his sex and drugs, but the moment they play contemporary christian music she caught a fit and they shut down the whole thing because of her complaint.
It is a strange religion.
